Atlanta, GA, September 2024 – The 19th Annual East Point Peachtree International Film Festival (EPIFF) formerly known as the Peachtree Village International Film Festival (PVIFF) is proud to announce Brittni Daniels, also known as Jayne Doe, as a finalist with her powerful documentary, BLACK MOM WHITE MOM. The film will premiere on Friday, November 8th at 3:30 p.m. at the Sonesta Hotel in East Point, Georgia.
Director’s Statement: “The stories I tell come from the depths of my soul. It’s like millions of people desperate for freedom, and I have been chosen to liberate them. I am Brittni Daniels, also known as Jayne Doe, and I breathe life into untold stories.”
Brittni Daniels’ journey as a filmmaker began in 2016 when she moved to New York City from Jacksonville, Florida. It was in New York, while furniture shopping for her Upper Eastside apartment, that she uncovered her hidden passion for filmmaking. Her first screenplay, Royal Hues, centered on an African American woman marrying into the British Royal Family, a storyline that eerily anticipated the real-life union of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
However, it was her non-traditional upbringing, being raised in two racially different worlds in the Deep South, that truly inspired her filmmaking career. The result of this unique background is her most personal project, BLACK MOM WHITE MOM, a documentary that dives deep into the experiences of growing up with two mothers—one Black, one White. The film features intimate interviews with Daniels’ two mothers, Linda Hall and Shirley Daniels, as well as her sisters and childhood friends.
Fully funded and produced by Daniels herself, BLACK MOM WHITE MOM explores race, family, and identity, through the lens of Daniels’ life story. As a filmmaker, she’s on a mission to break into the industry and gain representation, while also pushing for more inclusive storytelling in the realm of Science Fiction, Medieval Fantasy, and Space Opera genres. “Our stories deserve a place in the film industry, especially in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy realm,” Daniels passionately states.
With BLACK MOM WHITE MOM, Daniels hopes to capture the hearts of festival audiences and industry leaders alike, setting the stage for her ultimate dream of joining the ranks of notable franchises like Star Wars, Avatar, and Game of Thrones with her own unique blend of fantasy and science fiction.
