Back in October, The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) revealed the thrilling news about his collaboration with Marvel to produce his first comic book. On June 13th, the initial issue of The Weeknd Presents: Starboy! is set to be released to the public, according to a Marvel press release.

Abel wrote The Weeknd Presents: Starboy! with the help of the Marvel team, and is based on the Grammy-Award winning artist’s double-platinum Starboy album. “Marvel is the pinnacle of success in their field and I’ve been a lifelong fan of their work,” Abel said. “To be able to partner with them is a dream come true.”

Marvel provided a brief description of the storyline, stating: “The city of Alphatron is in the grip of a crime wave, as the terrifying Jack “The Chef” Smiley has unified all criminal organizations with his ruthlessness and strategic genius. Not content with brutally murdering his victims, Smiley also feasts upon their flesh. The citizens live in fear and the police have been directly targeted. The city is in dire need of a hero. It will not get one, but it will get what it deserves: Starboy!”

Recently, The Weeknd has also hinted at a new album via social media, by posting multiple videos of himself in the studio, with a simple caption of “mastering” beneath each one. Is there a chance of an album around the same time that Starboy! will be released? Let’s hope so.

The Weeknd Presents: Starboy! Vol. 1, Issue #1 hits the shelves on June 13, and is written by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, La Mar Taylor, Christos Gage, Eric Nguyen, and Guru-eFX.
