Sometimes, saving a relationship begins with something as simple as sharing a meal. Whether that moment is enough to repair the distance between two people is another question entirely.
That emotional uncertainty forms the premise of Girl Dinner, a seven-minute, 30-second short film named an official finalist for the 2026 Peachtree Village International Film Festival (PVIFF).

Produced by Daria Strachan, Tyler Hope, Ava Grimes, Jadon Lukata and Stowell Roux-Toussaint Fulton, the film features performances by B Alexander and Ítarala Gamboa Cayetaño García.
The story follows two women attempting to salvage their deteriorating relationship through an unexpected romantic dinner, placing the possibilities of reconciliation at the center of its narrative.
The production joins this year’s PVIFF finalist lineup ahead of the festival’s Nov. 5-8 gathering in Atlanta, where independent filmmakers will compete for recognition through professional judging and audience participation.
Can One Dinner Save a Relationship?
At the center of Girl Dinner is a relationship approaching a difficult crossroads.
Two women, confronting the possibility that their connection may be slipping away, attempt to create an opportunity for reconciliation through an impromptu romantic dinner.
The premise introduces a familiar emotional challenge: recognizing that a relationship needs attention while remaining uncertain whether the people involved can find their way back to one another.
A shared meal becomes the setting for an attempt to reconnect, offering the possibility that time spent together might help bridge the emotional distance that has developed between them.
Yet the story’s central question extends beyond the dinner itself.
Can a meaningful gesture help restore a struggling relationship, or does reconciliation require confronting deeper issues that affection alone cannot resolve?
Through its intimate premise, Girl Dinner explores the complicated relationship between romantic intention and emotional connection.
Love, Communication and the Possibility of Reconciliation
Relationship-centered storytelling often finds its strength in recognizable moments rather than dramatic spectacle.
Girl Dinner approaches its subject through an everyday experience: two people making an effort to reconnect when their relationship is no longer working as they hoped.
The situation offers an opportunity to examine vulnerability, communication and the expectations people bring into romantic partnerships.
A dinner intended to restore intimacy can also represent something more complicated—the recognition that a relationship has changed and that preserving it may require more than simply remembering why two people fell in love.
The film’s brief synopsis leaves the outcome of the couple’s efforts open, allowing the central premise to raise questions about commitment, reconciliation and the challenges of maintaining emotional closeness.
With a runtime of just seven and a half minutes, the production brings its relationship-centered premise into the concentrated storytelling format of a short film.
