Blood Orange musician Devonté Hynes will compose original music forJob, the Broadway play, which is set to open at Broadway’s Hayes Theater later this month.
The play’s synopsis reads: “After being placed on leave following a viral workplace incident, Jane would do anything to return to her Big Tech job. But as the therapist who needs to authorize it, Loyd suspects her work might be doing more harm than good.”
“Anyone familiar with Dev’s work already knows what a naturally brilliant storyteller he is, so it’s no surprise that his work on Job not only enriches the thematic and narrative threads but also deepens the emotional resonance of the play,” said Hannah Getts, a producer of the show, in a press statement. “We are thrilled to integrate his innovative musical vision into the fabric of Job.”
Job is written by Max Wolf Friedlich and directed by Michael Herwitz. It stars Peter Friedman and Sydney Lemmon.
Job premiered Off Broadway in 2023, and the new Broadway performances will kick off on July 15. The show officially opens on July 30 and will run through September 29th for a limited engagement.
