The second half of the first season of Silver & Gold came to a culmination last month with a thrilling three-episode finale that saw the series garner acclaim from both critics and audiences. Now with awards season in full swing, the Jaro Media-presented original series can celebrate some major awards nominations with the announcement that the series has garnered a pair of nods from the 2024 edition of the New Jersey Web Festival.
Series creator, writer, and director Alonge Hawes picked up nominations for Outstanding Script and Best Director in a Thriller, marking the second consecutive year he’s been nominated in each category. Hawes will also look to go back-to-back as the victor in the latter category, having won the trophy in 2023.
The news marks the latest in a long line of festival nominations and wins for Silver & Gold. The Oniros Film Awards named Hawes Best Supporting Actor for their monthly edition in July. The series was also bestowed three nominations at the Festigious Film Awards in June, winning for Best Web Series and Best Young Actress. The series was also named an official selection to the upcoming Minnesota Webfest for a second time.
In addition to his work behind the camera, Hawes also serves as executive producer alongside Richard DeVaughn, Eduardo Bryant, and Mary Bouche. Joshua Dennard, Shani Hawes, Quentin Williams, Cordarol Sanders, Jamal Mcclendon, and Rodderick Fedd serve as producers. The series stars Quentin Williams as charming gentleman thief Charles Goldar, Brittaney Traylor as the beautifully seductive Bahiya Payne, Shani Hawes as expert computer hacker Cierra Valentine, and Roberto Cruz Jr. as stoic conman Sosa Gerena. Co-starring are Alex Patterson, Angela Van Tassel, Joshua Quinn, Pantheah Hawes, Eduardo Bryant, and Roxzane T. Mims. All 10 episodes of Silver & Gold are available to stream via Jaro Media.
The New Jersey Web Festival, created and run by Neem Basha, launched in 2018 and has since become one of the biggest, most prestigious, and respected film festivals dedicated to supporting and honoring independent film makers in web and podcast mediums. In addition to digital series and podcasts, the New Jersey Web Festival also works to highlight pilots, scripts, trailers and music videos from independent creators nationwide and abroad. It is ranked as one of FilmFreeway’s best reviewed festivals and networking mixers. The festival’s long-standing adage is that “Quality Is the Only Criteria: We Want To Showcase The Very Best.”
The New Jersey Web Festival will take place September 26-29th, with special screenings of official selections being held at the Clairidge Movie Theater in Montclair, NJ.
