Creator LaShonda DeVaughn will join viewers Sept. 11 as JaroGO moves its original vertical drama from streaming series to shared conversation.
I’d Rather Be Single is already streaming. Now JaroGO wants viewers to talk about it.
JaroGO Media has begun the next phase of its campaign for the 45-episode original vertical micro-drama created by and starring LaShonda DeVaughn, announcing an upcoming watch event designed to bring DeVaughn and the series’ growing audience together.
,
The event is planned for Friday, Sept. 11, extending a rollout built around one deceptively simple question:
Everyone asks why you’re single. No one asks if you’re happy.
That question has helped define the conversation surrounding I’d Rather Be Single, which adapts DeVaughn’s relationship-centered storytelling into a serialized vertical format built for mobile viewing. Episodes run roughly two to two-and-a-half minutes, making the drama easy to enter while leaving plenty of room for the complicated relationship decisions, red flags and moments of self-discovery that drive its 45-episode arc.
From Watching Alone to Watching Together
The newly released JaroGO social campaign signals that the next step is participation.
Rather than simply directing audiences back to the app, the campaign is beginning to position I’d Rather Be Single as something viewers can debate together — which may be particularly fitting for a series whose premise practically invites an opinion.
- Is being single underrated?
- Are high standards actually the problem?
- Are butterflies always a sign of healthy love?
- And when does choosing yourself become the better love story?
Those themes have been central to the series from the beginning, and the upcoming watch event will allow DeVaughn to engage directly with viewers as selected moments from the drama unfold.
The watch event is also part of a broader creator-focused push surrounding DeVaughn, who originated the property before bringing it to the screen as a JaroGO original.
That distinction is important. DeVaughn is not simply the lead performer attached to the project. She is the creator behind the world viewers are entering, giving the upcoming conversation another layer as audiences get the chance to hear directly from the person responsible for the characters, conflicts, and choices playing out on screen.
JaroGO Continues Building Around Original Content
I’d Rather Be Single represents another step in JaroGO Media’s original production strategy following the release of its feature film 2 Preachers On A Mission.
Where that production allowed the platform to establish itself in original feature filmmaking, I’d Rather Be Single moves JaroGO into a different viewing language entirely.
Vertical micro-dramas are designed around the device audiences already carry throughout the day. Short episodes allow viewers to enter a story quickly, while serialized storytelling provides the hooks necessary to keep them moving from episode to episode.
For JaroGO, the format also creates opportunities beyond the screen itself.
Social polls, creator commentary, character discussions, audience questions and live watch experiences can all become extensions of the original story rather than disconnected promotional pieces.
The Sept. 11 event is an early example of that strategy taking shape.
Come Watch. Then Come Talk.
Details surrounding the watch experience will continue to roll out through JaroGO Media and DeVaughn’s social channels ahead of the event.
In the meantime, viewers do not have to wait to meet the characters.
All 45 episodes of I’d Rather Be Single are currently available to stream on the JaroGO Media app.
The invitation now is straightforward:
Watch the series. Pick your side. Bring your opinions Sept. 11.
Because with I’d Rather Be Single, pressing play may only be the beginning of the conversation.
