Eddie Murphy To Star In Three Amazon Films And Develop Original Content For The Studio

Amazon Studios closed an exciting new deal with the Award-winning comedian Eddie Murphy, which consists of starring in three Amazon Studio films and developing original films for Amazon Studios and Prime Video.

The deal was announced after the success of Coming 2 America, which became the number one streamed movie during its debut weekend and one of the top streamed movies of 2021.  

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, referred to Murphy as legendary both in front of and behind the camera. “With undeniable comedic and dramatic genius, he consistently delivers entertaining, original stories and characters to audiences around the world. We could not be more excited to help carry on the tradition and to officially welcome Eddie into the Amazon family,” she said. 

While the original content that Murphy will be producing remains a mystery at this point, we’ll see Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop 4 and he’s also starring in a currently unnamed Netflix comedy directed by Kenya Barris. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy is an “incisive examination of modern love and family dynamics and how clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences shape and affect relationships.” Murphy will star opposite Jonah Hill.
