MINUTES II SECONDS Brings Surreal Mystery to PVIFF 2026

The passage of time can change how people understand themselves, but some questions about identity are not easily answered by looking backward.

That uncertainty shapes MINUTES II SECONDS, a 19-minute, 54-second short film directed by Anthony R. Page that has been named an official finalist for the 2026 Peachtree Village International Film Festival (PVIFF).

Produced by Patrice Ri’Kay Hrabowskie, Rickey James Hrabowskie, Page, Farid Momodu and Demetri Landell, the film follows Desi, a woman whose approaching birthday becomes the starting point for an extraordinary journey.

Facing the prospect of celebrating while separated from her childhood self, Desi enters a nonlinear, surrealistic experience that takes her through a forest and a nightclub.

What begins as an exploration of curiosity and identity becomes increasingly dangerous when her actions inadvertently unleash Seraphine, a deadly force whose emergence sets off events that challenge Desi’s understanding of reality.

The production joins the PVIFF finalist lineup ahead of the festival’s Nov. 5-8 gathering in Atlanta.

A Journey Beyond Time and Familiar Reality

At the center of MINUTES II SECONDS is Desi, a woman confronting the passage of time and her relationship with the person she once was.

With her birthday approaching, the separation between her present identity and childhood self becomes part of an increasingly unusual personal journey.

Rather than following a conventional path, Desi’s adventure unfolds through nonlinear storytelling, moving between the depths of a forest and the atmosphere of a nightclub.

These contrasting environments provide the setting for an exploration of memory, curiosity and the uncertainty surrounding personal identity.

As Desi ventures deeper into the experience, the boundaries between familiar reality and the extraordinary become increasingly difficult to define.

Her search for understanding takes an unexpected turn when she inadvertently releases Seraphine.

The emergence of this deadly force transforms her personal exploration into something far more threatening, creating a chain of events that challenges what she believes about herself and the world around her.

The film’s premise places questions of identity and perception at the center of a story where the passage of time does not necessarily follow a predictable direction.

Identity, Memory and the Uncertainty of Self-Discovery

One of the central themes of MINUTES II SECONDS is the relationship between personal identity and the experiences that shape it.

Desi’s encounter with the idea of her childhood self introduces questions about how people reconcile who they once were with who they have become.

The approaching birthday provides an especially meaningful backdrop for that exploration.

Birthdays often represent celebration and personal milestones, but they can also become occasions for reflection, uncertainty and the reassessment of one’s place in life.

For Desi, that moment develops into something far more complicated.

Her journey brings together curiosity, memory and fear, suggesting that seeking answers about the self may involve confronting experiences or possibilities that remain difficult to understand.

The film’s nonlinear structure also opens the door to questions about how time, memory and personal perception influence one another.

Rather than presenting identity as something fixed, MINUTES II SECONDS explores a situation in which Desi’s understanding of herself becomes increasingly uncertain.

When Curiosity Awakens Something Dangerous

While the story begins with Desi’s search for self-understanding, the emergence of Seraphine introduces a supernatural threat.

The deadly force is unleashed inadvertently, complicating a journey that initially centers on curiosity and personal discovery.

This development creates tension between Desi’s desire for answers and the consequences of pursuing them.

As events unfold, the question of what is real becomes increasingly important to her experience.

The presence of Seraphine also adds another dimension to the film’s exploration of identity, placing Desi in circumstances where her perceptions are challenged by forces she did not anticipate.

With a runtime of nearly 20 minutes, MINUTES II SECONDS uses surrealistic storytelling to explore a narrative that moves between introspection, mystery and supernatural danger.
