Can you believe that it’s been two decades already since the release of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill? To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ms. Lauryn Hill’s legendary debut solo album, the iconic musician has announced an extensive North American tour where she will perform the album in full. The news becomes even more thrilling for fans when we consider the fact that Hill hasn’t released music since 2002.
Blending neo soul, R&B, hip hop, and reggae, Miseducation is celebrated for its versatility and vulnerability, lyrical prose, and massive influence that forever transformed hip-hop and soul into a new realm.
According to Pitchfork, Hill considers her legendary album to be “an intimate piece of my young existence.” She continued to say, “It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date. I Loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both Love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement. Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the Love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with Love and optimism at the helm.”
The tour will begin on July 5 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and conclude on October 5 in St. Louis, Missouri. Performances will take across America in cities such as Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, San Diego, and more. Check out the full list for the Miseducation tour below.
