This fall, experience the audiobook for Nelson Mandela’s Favorite African Folktales on vinyl through Wax Audio Group. Read by Don Cheadle, Whoopie Goldberg, Samuel L Jackson, and more, the popular 2010 audiobook consists of folktales from over 10 African countries that were curated by Nelson Mandela.

The landmark stories include The Wolf Queen, The Lion the Hare and the Hyena, The Cat Who Came Indoors, and The Snake Chief.  The audiobook features music from Vusi Mahlasela and Johnny Clegg, with a special message from Desmond Tutu.

Translated from their original languages such as Karanga, Nguni, Xhosa, and various others, these cherished folktales are a tribute to the importance of storytelling and the power of myth.

“It is my wish that the voice of the storyteller may never die in Africa, that all the children of the world may experience the wonder of books,” Mandela wrote in the original foreword for the folktales.

Although the exact date that the vinyl version will be released is still unclear, you can currently pre-order a copy from Wax Audio Group.
