The highly anticipated HBO special Between The World And Me has received a teaser trailer. The adaptation is based on Ta-Nehisi Coates’ New York Times bestseller of the same name, and will feature a phenomenal cast. Coates will star in his own special, along with Mahershala Ali, Angela Davis, Phylicia Rashad, Angela Bassett, Oprah Winfrey, T.I., Janet Mock, and more.
The special, which was first adapted and staged by the Apollo Theater back in 2018, will once again be directed by Kamilah Forbes. It will incorporate readings from Coates’ book, along with documentary footage from his home life, animation, and archival clips.
Released in 2015, Between The World And Me was written as a letter to Coates’ teenage son and details his upbringing in Baltimore’s inner city and the fear of ongoing violence against the Black community. It deeply examines Coates’ claim that the structure of American society supports white supremacy.
Mark your calendars for the premiere on Saturday, November 15 at 8 PM ET, and watch the teaser below.
