Watch The Vibrant Trailer For “Been So Long,” Starring Michaela Coel And Arinzé Kene

Chewing Gum’s Michaela Coel sings beautifully alongside Arinzé Kene in the new trailer for Netflix’s romantic musical Been So Long.

Based on the stage show by acclaimed playwright Ché Walker and Arthur Darvill, Been So Long centers on Simone (Michaela Coel), a broken-hearted single mother who becomes infatuated by Raymond (Arinzé Kene), a handsome man she meets while out in town. The official synopsis reads:

“Romance, rage and revenge. Been So Long is a neon soaked, modern day romance set on the streets of London’s musical hot-bed of Camden. We follow Simone (Michaela Coel), a dedicated single mother who, on a rare night on the town is charmed by a handsome yet troubled stranger, igniting old and new feelings. Set against the backdrop of an ever-changing city, Been So Long is a fresh take on love, life and moving on.”

In the colorful trailer, we move through the fast-paced streets of Camden, London, filled with lively dance and culture. We catch a glimpse of Simone and her daughter, and a sneak peek of Michaela Coel’s wonderful singing voice, a talent we were previously unaware of. We watch as Simone and Raymond’s love story unfolds, and see their chemistry evolve on-screen. While there may be plenty of twists and turns, Been So Long ultimately appears to be a feel-good film that leaves one radiant and energetic. As the trailer states, experience the music, discover the magic, and feel the love on October 26th.
