On the heels of Silver & Gold’s nominations at this year’s upcoming New Jersey Webfest, the cast and crew of the Jaro Media original series have another reason to celebrate, with the announcement that the series has picked up a pair of nominations at the 7th annual Minnesota Webfest.
The Alonge Hawes-created series picked up nominations for Best Mystery/Thriller Series & Best Series Script, matching nominations the series received in 2022 when the Minnesota Webfest also served as host to the world premiere of the series pilot episode. Hawes would emerge victorious in the series script category for penning the aforementioned pilot episode “The Birth of The Cool.” Silver & Gold concluded its first season back in July with a three-episode finale, which was met with critical acclaim from film review sites such as Indyred and Screen Critix. The series finale trailer can be viewed at the link below.
In addition to creating and writing the series, Hawes also serves as director and showrunner. The series stars Quentin Williams as charismatic gentleman thief Charles Goldar, Brittaney Traylor as the enthrallingly enticing Bahiya Payne, Shani Hawes as brilliant computer hacker Ciera Valentine, and Roberto Cruz as the indomitable conman Sosa Gerena. Julian Robinson, Joshua Dennard, Angela Van Tassel, Joshua Quinn, Eduardo Bryant, and Hawes himself round out the supporting cast. Richard DeVaughn, Eduardo Bryant, and Mary Bouche serve as executive producers. Cordarol Sanders, Joshua Dennard, Shani Hawes and Quentin Williams serve as producers.
Founded in 2017, the Minnesota WebFest is the first film festival dedicated to the web series format in the Upper Midwest. Their stated mission is to bring the best web entertainment in the world to Minnesota, and to show off Minnesota creative talent to the world. Minnesota WebFest is a member festival of the Web Series World Cup and part of the North Star Story Summit. This year’s screenings and festivities will take place in Duluth, Minnesota from October 3-7th.
