Esteemed actor Samuel L. Jackson has landed his first major television series role, according to an exclusive report by Deadline.

Jackson will star in Old Man, a thriller series that is based on the book The Old Man by the Award-winning author Thomas Perry. Old Man centers on widower Dan Chase (Samuel L. Jackson), an average retiree carrying a deep, dark secret. For thirty-five years, Chase has been on the run following his involvement as a young army intelligence expert in a malformed operation in Libya. Finally beginning to believe he’s in the clear, Chase is in for a rude awakening.

So far, the series has been pitched to TNT, FX, HBO, Showtime, and even streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. With multiple offers currently on the table, Old Man is already appearing to be a promising series.

Black Sails co-creator Johnathan Steinberg will write and executive produce Old Man, along with his producing partners Warren Littlefield, Dan Shotz, and Samuel Jackson.
